Homesick

Homesick is a project that I worked on from December 2023 to February 2024. I stayed in my home town of Seattle, WA and photographed the people and places that I grew up with, focusing on feelings of belonging, homesickness, and growing up. Seattle is one of my favorite places in the whole world, but it’s undeniable that the winter months can be very long and dismal. I was interested in capturing the specific feeling of living in a place like Seattle during the peak of the winter months. In addition to this, I was, and still am, in a strange space where I don’t live in Seattle full-time anymore, but I also don’t fully live in Providence either. Spending six weeks in the house that I have lived in for my whole life reintroduced certain memories and feelings that I’m no longer privy to in Providence. In my photos for Homesick, I focused on this in-between space.
